Ministry of Industry aimed at using Information Technology as an effective
tool to help in the decision making and in the policy
formulation and also in the follow –up process in the
Ministry and all units related to it.
To achieve all these goals the Ministry made a three phase plan as follows:-
(1)Establishment of Intra-net:-
In phase I the aim is the adaptation of the deep infrastructure of the
Ministry by Providing computers and programs and
training and development of human resources. The
Ministry announced tender for bids to build the computer
network for the Ministry under the supervision of the
Technical Advisor of the Ministry.
The network of the Ministry finally has been established with 95 nodes by
the "Advanced & Communication Systems Company Ltd".
These nodes were divided into:-

75 nodes inside the main building
of the Ministry
-
10 nodes in Library And
Environment Administration Building
-
10 nodes in Small Scale
Industries Administration Building
These three building are connected by using data clouds.
Also a contract has been signed with CCS (Computer And Communication Systems
Company) to provide 40 computer machines Pentium IIII in
addition to a computer server Dell power age.
The operating System which is used in the internal E mail is Linux.
Regarding database and information systems , a working group from the
Ministry is exerting efforts and finished analyzing the
manual systems and sent it to the Technical consultant
to determine the second step.
There should be seven Data bases in addition to the industrial survey data
base which is the largest one in the country.
-Regarding Standard programs which is imposed to be used in all
Governmental Organization by the National Information
Center for three different Administrations ( Financial
Administration, Warehouses Administration and Personnel
Administration), a contract with IT Way company to
provide the Financial Administration with the Program
and actually up to now it have been used effectively
there.
(2) Link with the National
Information Networks:-
The connection Between the Ministry
of Industry and the National Information Network
actually took place and now the exchange of
communications of all Federal Ministries and NIC
National Information Center is now through E mail.
One of the main activities to do in
the Annual Activities Plan 2004 is to connect with the
Other States Networks and all Industry Offices at
industrial cluster States.
Also connect the Ministry with
Other related Ministries and Organizations such as the
Research Center, the Sudanese Standards and Metrology
Organization, Investment Authority and the Sudanese
Chambers of Industries Association through networks and
specific programs using Data Clouds.
(3) Connection with other
related International Networks:-
International Organizations such as
UNIDO United nation Industrial Development Organization,
AIDMO Arab Industrial Development & Mining Organizationn,
and Arab Information Technology Organization.
- Establishment of Internal
Network of the Ministry ( installation of all
necessary machines and computers)
- Training of all Officers at
the Ministry to use computers in their works.
- Connecting with the National
Information Network through NIC National Information
Center. (Council of Ministers )
- Using standards program
(Accounting Program)
- Accessing Internet in all
parts of the Ministry
- Classifying and Indexing the
library of the Ministry of Industry using CDS/ISIS
and preparing abstracts for all books and
periodicals in the library.
